in the International Bus Roadeo Competition
Darrion Mitchell, bus operator with METRA, placed second at American Public Transit Association's 34th Annual International Bus Roadeo Competition held in Seattle, Washington, May 3, 2009. Darrion competed against 80 of the best transit bus operators across the United States and Canada. Darrion is also known as "the world's best bus operator" among his peers. Bus operators were tested in categories of safety, ADA, appearance, bus inspection, customer service and timeliness. Darrion used precision and smoothness to maneuvered a 35 ft. passenger bus through 11 obstacles of closely placed cones within 7 minutes, without touching the cones.
