Industrial Facilities

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) requires certain facilities to obtain coverage under a NPDES General Permit No. GAR050000 for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Industrial Activity. Your facility needs coverage under the permit if the business SIC code and operations fall under one of the sectors in the permit.

The coverage and documentation required by the permit is dependent on the exposure of processes or materials. Facilities must be inspected by a stormwater inspector, regardless of coverage, if the SIC code is in the permit. The goal of the inspection is to educate the business’s personnel on how to reduce the potential for stormwater pollution. CCG Annual Compliance

Industrial facilities that have submitted a Notice of Intent (NOI) to the EPD must also submit an annual report to CCG. Documents that are necessary to demonstrate compliance are listed on the CCG Industrial Stormwater Annual Compliance form. The submittal deadline for the reporting period is January 31st of the following calendar year. Documents must be submitted to stormwater@columbusga.org. It’s important to note that the Industrial Annual Compliance is separate from the Private Stormwater Management Facility Annual Compliance. If your facility has submitted a NOI for coverage under the general permit and has post-construction stormwater best management practices, you must submit both annual compliance reports.
