Founded in 1831 as a one-man Department under Ephraim C. Brandy, The Columbus Police Department is committed to providing the citizens of Columbus with excellence in law enforcement that will improve the quality of life for all residents of the Chattahoochee Valley. We are furthermore committed to maintaining our partnership with the community in a manner that continues to promote confidence and trust in the Columbus Police Department.

The Command Staff of the Columbus Police Department has selected Corporal Jason Carden for Officer of the Year for 2018. This selection is based on the numerous accolades that Corporal Carden brings to this department and himself. These commendations are constantly received from his supervisors and co-workers.

Corporal Carden joined the Columbus Police Department on August 31, 2009. He worked in the Patrol Bureau. He was appointed to Corporal on September 24, 2016 and is currently assigned as a Detective in the Property Crimes Unit.
