Investigation of Apparent Murder-Suicide

On Friday, July 12, 2024 around 6:40 p.m., Columbus Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence
in the 1100 block of Richland Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered two deceased individuals at the scene.

UPDATE: Pregnant woman, fetus killed in stabbing

On July 5, 2024, at 1:48 p.m., Columbus Police officers responded to the 100 block of 20th Avenue (E. Canty Homes) in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female (later identified as Chasity Dean, 20) suffering from a stab wound. Kyle Dean was taken into custody in Lee County, AL. He has been extradited to Columbus, GA.

UPDATE: Shirley B. Winston Incident

On Sunday, July 7, 2024, Noah Harley was arrested and charged with Possession of a Deadly Weapon at a Public Gathering. He was identified as being in possession of a rifle at Shirley B. Winston Recreation Center on May 21, 2024 during which time the facility was being used as a voting precinct.

Co-Conspirator Arrested in Navy Federal Credit Union Fraud Investigation

A second arrest has been made in the ongoing fraud investigation at Navy Federal Credit Union. On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, arrest warrants were issued for Demetrius Redding, 46. Redding, with the help of Steven Verrett (a former bank employee who was previously arrested), deposited four stolen checks totaling $480,142.91 in various accounts.
