Arrests in Death of Zahmere Greene

On May 29, 2024 at 2:22 p.m., Columbus Police officers responded to a report of a body floating in water near the fields behind Howe Avenue at the dead end of Ormand Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of Zahmere Greene, 15, floating in a retention pond.

Jeremy Hobbs Arrested

On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., following a months-long investigation, the Columbus Police Department's Special Operations Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 4200 block of 16th Avenue. Jeremy Hobbs, 49, was taken into custody without incident.

On Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 10:19 p.m., Columbus Police officers responded to the 300 block of 12th Street in reference to a person down. Responding officers discovered a Black male (later identified as Derrick Jordan, 39) lying in the road suffering from a gunshot wound.

Navy Federal Credit Union Employee Arrested in Fraud Investigation

In February 2024, the Columbus Police Department initiated a fraud investigation involving Steven Verrett, a Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) employee. Verrett used legitimate customers at his desk as cover while he deposited counterfeit checks, opened fraudulent vehicle loans, and funneled the money to himself and several other co-conspirators.

Search Warrant Uncovers Animal Cruelty, Drugs, Firearm, and Stolen Vehicle
