Search for Deadly Crash Witnesses

On December 6th, 2023, at 2:42 p.m., Columbus Police officers responded to the intersection of Macon Road and Chattsworth Road due to a three-vehicle accident with injuries. Ms. Kim Anderson, the driver of one of the vehicles, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. She succumbed to those injuries on December 16, 2023.

WANTED: Gerald Simpson, 30 (AKA "JR")

On December 1, 2023, probable cause was established to issue murder warrants for Gerald Simpson, 30. Simpson, also known as “JR,” is wanted in connection to the murder of Michael Brown. Simpson should be considered armed and dangerous.

Statement on Officer-Involved Shooting

On Friday, December 22, 2023, an officer-involved shooting occurred outside Peachtree Mall. Our officers initially responded to a report of car break-ins. After making contact with a male subject, the individual fired shots at one of our officers. The officer returned fire to neutralize the threat.

Search for Suspects in Rollins Way Double Shooting

On Friday, December 22, 2023 at 6:39 a.m., Patrol officers responded to St. Francis Hospital in reference to two individuals who had been shot. Police investigation revealed that the shooting took place in a parking lot located in the 1700 block of Rollins Way.

Mother Arrested in Death of Infant

 Thursday, December 21, 2023

On December 7, 2023, at 6:31 p.m., the Columbus Police Department was notified of an infant who arrived at Piedmont Columbus Regional with injuries. The 2-month-old was air-lifted to an Atlanta area hospital, where the medical staff determined the injuries to be indicative of non-accidental trauma. The child was listed in critical condition and succumbed to those injuries 4 days later.

Shooting Suspect Identified, Arrested

On December 6, 2023, William Coulter, 18, was identified as the suspect. Warrants were subsequently issued for his arrest. On Friday, December 8, 2023, Coulter was arrested and transported to the Muscogee County Jail. He is charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime.

CPD Investigators Looking to Identify Shooting Suspect

On November 20, 2023 at 8:52 p.m., Columbus Police officers responded to 800 Apex Road (Highland Terrace Apartments) in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect shot at a security guard after being confronted about trespassing on the property.

VIDEO: Claradon Avenue Shooting Investigation

On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, Patrol officers with the Columbus Police Department responded to the 500 block of Claradon Avenue in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a residence that had been struck several times by gunfire. Two people were inside the home to include an elderly man.

Shooting Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

On November 21, 2023 at 7:21 p.m., Columbus Police officers responded to the area of Schatulga Road and Macon Road in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered two Black males suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS arrived and transported both victims to the hospital.
