The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Board met and approved the recommendations of the State Codes Advisory Committee to adopt the 2018 International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), International Plumbing Code (IPC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), International Fire Code (IFC), International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC) and 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). These codes will become the Georgia State Minimum Construction Codes and will be effective January 1st, 2020. To help usher in these eight new codes and amendments, DCA has a site (https://www.dca.ga.gov/node/5689) that will be continuously updated and all the new code books will be available for purchase at our office. As the building community gets accustomed to the new rules and regulations, the Inspections & Code Department will be available to meet and discuss changes and how they may affect future building construction.
