The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) gives Columbus-area high school students a voice in local government and community change. Before applying, here are a few key things to know:

Who Can Join
- Students must be enrolled in a school within Muscogee County (public, private, or homeschool).
- Applicants should be in 6th–12th grade.
- A strong interest in leadership, community service, or civic engagement is encouraged — no prior experience required.

What Members Do
- Attend monthly Youth Advisory Council meetings.
- Work on community improvement projects and youth-focused initiatives.
- Provide input to city leaders on issues affecting young people.
- Participate in volunteer opportunities, city events, and leadership development workshops.
