Mr.John Jackson
Commission on International Relations and Cultural Liaison Encounters (CIRCLE)
What does serving on a City board mean to you?
Serving on CIRCLE has been a great honor but also a responsibility. CIRCLE’s mission is to foster relationships between Columbus and our sister cities around the world. As a commissioner, I have to think about the big picture and what will be best for our community as a whole. It has widened my perspective of how intricate and diverse our city is.
What would be the most encouraging aspect of serving on a city board that you would share with other citizens?
It’s so easy to get involved and start making a difference. If someone had asked me about serving on a board five years ago, I wouldn’t have thought I had anything to offer. That couldn’t be further from the truth. There are many opportunities for anyone to help. Even things that seem small at first can make a big difference.
What do you enjoy the most about living in Columbus, Georgia?
Columbus, Georgia is not my hometown, but it feels like home to me now. I love the diverse history, the historical neighborhoods, the art culture, and the recreation opportunities. I frequently ride my bicycle on our wonderful trails!
