On Friday, May 17, 2024 at 12:11 p.m., Columbus Police officers responded to the 3700 block of Cusseta Road (Avalon Apartments) in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a Black male (later identified as Raquise Walls, 20) suffering from a gunshot wound.

False Social Media Post Regarding Found Child

On Friday, May 17, 2024 around 1:40 p.m., the Columbus Police Department’s Special Victims’ Unit (SVU) received a
tip from a concerned citizen regarding a posting on a local Facebook group about a found child. The posting included two images of the child. Upon investigation, SVU determined that the images were obtained from previous articles found on the internet.

CPD Officer Saves Woman From House Fire

On May 10, 2024 at 12:44 a.m., Officer Michael Coley was patrolling the area of Veterans Parkway and
Hancock Road when he began to smell smoke. Despite no reports of a fire nearby, Officer Coley continued to
search the area when he discovered a residence engulfed in flames in the 2900 block of Waterhill Road.
