The Planning Advisory Commission (PAC) serves in an advisory capacity to the Planning Department with regard to:

  • A comprehensive plan or parts thereof for the development and redevelopment of Columbus
  • Regulations for the subdivision of land and amendments thereto
  • Other such matters as may be required by ordinance

The Commission is made up of seven regular members and two alternates. PAC has no legislative powers but is appointed by the Columbus City Council to listen to the concerns of citizens and developers, evaluate recommendations made by the planning staff and make recommendations to Council.

Application Process

Applications to appear before the Planning Advisory Commission must be submitted to the Planning Department no later than 5:00 PM on the applicable application deadline date. Required signs must be posted at the time of application submission. A site plan is required with all applications for all high-density residential and commercial zoning requests. No applications will be accepted unless the applicant submits all pertinent information and required signs are posted.


The applicant or his appointed representative must be present at the Planning Advisory Commission meeting and at the public hearing held by the Columbus City Council.The applicant will be notified regarding the date and time of the public hearing held by Council.

Applications must be submitted to the Planning Department of the Columbus Consolidated Government before 5:00 p.m. of the deadline date along with all applicable fees.
