Notice of Lane Closure Southbound Lane of Cherokee Avenue near Cherokee Drive

Beginning Monday, October 12th, the outside southbound lane of Cherokee Avenue near the intersection of Cherokee Drive will be closed to repair a portion of the retaining wall adjacent to Weracoba Creek.  The closure is anticipated to last approximately one month.  Motorists are encouraged to proceed with caution and observe traffic control devices and personnel during the lane closure.

The Columbus Consolidated Government, Department of Public Works Columbus Recycles Recycling Division, and Keep Columbus Beautiful Commission’s Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) & Electronic Equipment Recycling Project will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2025, from 8:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. This is a drive-thru event to be held at the Columbus Recycling and Sustainability Center, 8001 Pine Grove Way, Columbus, GA 31907.

Neighborhood Meeting - All-Hands on Deck Campaign - Oakland Park

City Officials will host a ‘Neighborhood Meeting’ on Thursday, October 22nd at 5:30 pm at Asbury United Methodist Church, 2312 Ellen Avenue as part of the ‘All Hands on Deck Campaign’ to clean up our neighborhoods and our city.  We must get a handle on the uncleanliness of our community, and it will take “all of our community leaders and residents to make this happen”. This is just the start of getting this done through collaboration and coordination.
